Google has a very good service called Google Transliterate.
This service is only for the Indic languages , i mean only for indians ,as only indians can understand indian languages lol . It boasts right now upto 11 languages
- Bengali ,
- Gujarati ,
- Hindi ,
- Kannada ,
- Malayalam ,
- Marathi ,
- Punjabi ,
- Nepali ,
- Tamil ,
- Telugu and
- Urdu
Google Transliteration offers an option for converting English characters to the characters used in Hindi. This lets you type Hindi words phonetically in English script and then have them appear in Hindi.
Note that this is not the same as translation - it is the sound of the words that are converted from one alphabet to the other, not their meaning.
For example
i wrote
GOOD MORNINGand i selected hindi language , i got
गुड मोर्निंगPeople do not use Google Translate for official work because many –a--times it gives wrong translations or something very weird. In that case Google Transliterate comes to your rescue.
It can also be directly used in websites and sending mail and for more purposes , see the code here http://t13n.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/blet/docs/help_hi.html
