               Now it is possible to create  pages in Google's  Blogger , one of the most trafficked blogging platform . Recently Blogger have introduced the ability to create pages in Blogger and now all bloggers can easily create pages. This post will tell you how to :

      Pages are a key way to highlight important information pages on your blog and are not published in the blog timeline.
WordPress has a default feature of creating pages and was a great debate to choose between wp and blogger , similarly other blogging platforms , and Blogger was lacking in this essential feature for a long time. Still there were many hacks in which many bloggers had tweaked their template to show pages and now its official right after cloud like tags copied from wordpress !

So , Open  your Blogger dashboard,

go to Posting > Edit Pages > New Page
But Unlike unlimited pages that you can create in WordPress, Blogger still lets you create only 10 pages, so you need to chose clearly which pages you want . Now to insert them ,

Go to Layout > Add a Gadget >  Pages

Add the gadget to the sidebar on the side or the navigation bar on the top and you can easily add your pages in the layout. You can even change the order of links.
Create pages in Blogger and enjoy.

Adding Breadcrumb Navigation to Blogger

                 Many forums have breadcrumb which lets you navigate from one label to another , similarly even wordpress has plugins for that one , its even possible in blogger [ blogspot blogs ] by tweaking blogger template which is one of the best blogger hacks and recommended for all . However , on the main page of my Blog there is no breadcrumb, because that is Home but as soon as you click on a particular blog post or on a label or an archive entry, you will see how the breadcrumb will be automatically visible on top of the page :
Browse » Home » Tutorials » Adding Breadcrumb Navigation to Blogger
Below is a step by step walk through which I have aimed at beginners so that anyone reading my blog will be able to follow the instructions , so here is an easy piece of code to add breadcrumbs !
Step 1:      Save your template by going to the Layout tab, and click Edit HTML.
Download your template as an XML-file and save it on your PC . If anything goes wrong, upload it again and your blog style will be same , no damage to blog posts will occur just there can be messing up of widgets and abnormal design can occur mistakenly !

Step 2:
       Expand the widget template

Step 3:
         Scroll down through your expanded widget code and look for this code :

<b:includable id='main' var='top'>
<!-- posts -->
<div class='blog-posts hfeed'>

<b:include data='top' name='status-message'/>

<data:adStart/>

Step 4 :
Now our job is very simple , just replace the gap with below code , it should look like this

<b:includable id='main' var='top'>
<!-- posts -->
<div class='blog-posts hfeed'>
<!-- disable default status message
<b:include data='top' name='status-message'/>
default status message disabled -->
<b:include data='posts' name='breadcrumb'/>
<data:adStart/>

You have to add the RED code in between gaps on 3rd step !

Step 5 :
Now , Immediately search for <b:includable id='main' var='top'>
and add this code above it !

<b:includable id='breadcrumb' var='posts'>
<b:if cond='data:blog.homepageUrl == data:blog.url'>
<!-- No breadcrumb on front page -->
<b:else/>
<b:if cond='data:blog.pageType == &quot;item&quot;'>
<div class='breadcrumbs'>
Browse &#187;  <a expr:href='data:blog.homepageUrl' rel='tag'>Home</a>
<b:loop values='data:posts' var='post'>
<b:if cond='data:post.labels'>
<b:loop values='data:post.labels' var='label'>
<b:if cond='data:label.isLast == &quot;true&quot;'> &#187;
<a expr:href='data:label.url' rel='tag'><data:label.name/></a>
</b:if>
</b:loop>
&#187; <span><data:post.title/></span>
</b:if>
</b:loop>
</div>
<b:else/>
<b:if cond='data:blog.pageType == &quot;archive&quot;'>
<div class='breadcrumbs'>
Browse &#187; <a expr:href='data:blog.homepageUrl'>Home</a> &#187; Archives for <data:blog.pageName/>
</div>
<b:else/>
<b:if cond='data:blog.pageType == &quot;index&quot;'>
<div class='breadcrumbs'>
<b:if cond='data:blog.pageName == &quot;&quot;'>
Browse &#187; <a expr:href='data:blog.homepageUrl'>Home</a> &#187; All posts
<b:else/>
Browse &#187; <a expr:href='data:blog.homepageUrl'>Home</a> &#187; Posts filed under <data:blog.pageName/>
</b:if>
</div>
</b:if>
</b:if>
</b:if>
</b:if>
</b:includable>
<b:includable id='main' var='top'>

Step 5 :
Its better to add CSS to the skin
Search for  ]]></b:skin>

and add this code above  it

<b:skin><![CDATA[/*

....

.breadcrumbs {
  float: left;
  width: 590px;
  font-size: 11px;
  margin: 5px 10px 20px 10px;
  padding: 0px 0px 3px 0px;
  border-bottom: double #EAEAEA;
}

....

]]></b:skin>

Step 6 :
Your job is over , don't ever forget to SAVE YOUR TEMPLATE !

SEO Benefits of a Breadcrumb :
        Anchor text such as labels tells search engines about the subject of the linked page and thus its very helpful in optimizing SEO. Search engines view a breadcrumb with a text link to relevant keywords in the post as important. Apart from improving the navigation of your blog adding a breadcrumb has many cool uses , hence its better and recommended for bloggers to add and improve navigation of a Blogger Blogspot blog by adding breadcrumb navigation as  Google treat anchor text links as important.
So it really helps ! Also , A breadcrumb displays the visitor's location within a blog. The advantage of a breadcrumb is that it provides shortcuts to enable visitors to quickly get around your blog by jumping from one part of your blog to another.
Enjoy this Blogger Hack  !

Disable Right Click copy on Blogger

                             You must have surely noticed , that some most of the blogs/sites do not allow their visitors to select posts or copy using right mouse click while pointer is on content. Right clicking after selecting pops with many option like copy , paste ,cut etc and  on any browser its very useful tool but some people use this in very bad way and simply copy-paste whole article without changing words or even without giving credits or backlinks to the original author , and if you want to too protect your blog from copycats then , you may surely want to make click right disabled on yourblog  to protect you text, images hotlinking etc .
So , this post explains how to disable right click on blogger (blogspot blog) or any other webpage using a html or javascript code :

          To setup this tool in your blog arrowDownload this notepad file
and
Sign in to your blogger dashboad > layout > Add a Page element > html/javascript
and simply paste da code and Save

              Its not a fact anymore that , most people visit your site to read information and more than that percentage of people come to your site to steal your work , images ,etc. By using this cool Javascript , it will be very useful for the site and blog owners to minimize the possibilities of the content direct copying to other posts but there are still some ways to beat this hack , which very few people know about it twisted
But still , If you want to protect your images  you can add a Watermark(logo) of your sitename but theres nothing we can do about blog post neutral
Now check your blog after adding and saving Template , you wont be able to select content , just links !
And when you select all with CONTROL + A and then copy and paste , the thing pasted will be just links , archive titles and not full blog posts or images ,
Enjoy biggrin

Adding Meta Tags to Blogger

            Addings meta tags to your Blogger Blogspot blog is the first thing to do right after creating blog to increase the SEO of your blog . It is only the META tags that plays vital role in search engine rankings although many key factors are there , but this one is one of the top factors, better keywords , what you get is Better SEO and better traffic to blog .
So lets see how to add Meta content in blogger :
First of all , What are Meta Tags?
            Meta tags are HTML tags that provide more additional information about your blog that is invisible , in short cannot be seen by visitors but available to all search engines google , yahoo , bing , altavista etc. The meta description tags/keywords provides a short summary of the page content. The keyword meta tags show the keywords and keyword phrases a visitor might use to find your blog.

              Because of abuse of meta tags search engines have become smarter and most no longer place emphasis on keywords to establish page ranking however keyword meta tags are still used by some search engines so it is a good idea to include them.Meta tags and meta descriptions has be inserted into your Blogger Blogspot blog template and is very easy process and it does not even slow down your blog . It will work a long way for improving the placement of your blog in search engine results.
        Simply placing a meta tag description in your Blogger template is problematic because Blogger will use the same meta tags for all pages in your blog. This means that every entry that Google has for your site will show in search results with the same description. This solution would result in reduced traffic rather than increased traffic. However there is a way to add meta tags to the home page of your blog only which will not affect post pages in your blog. In this way visitors will find the home page of your blog in search engines by the use of appropriate keywords and a site description and by submitting sitemaps feed .
How to Add Meta Tags to a Blogger Blogspot Blog Home Page
Login to Blogger
Navigate to Layout > Edit HTML
Back up your template as a precaution by downloading full template.
Check the Expand Widget Templates box
Find these lines which will be near the top of your template:

<head>
<b:include data='blog' name='all-head-content'/>
 <title><data:blog.pageTitle/></title>
Paste the following code right below   <title><data:blog.pageTitle/></title>

<b:if cond='data:blog.url == data:blog.homepageUrl'>
<meta content='Place your blog description here' name='description'/>
<meta content='Place your blog keywords here(separated by commas)'
name='keywords'/>
</b:if>
Enter your blog description between the single quote marks under description.
Maximum 150 characters
Enter the keywords of your blog between the single quote marks under keywords. Ensure you separate each keyword or keyword phrase by a comma. Make sure your keywords do not exceed 200 characters
By way of example

Click on the Save Template button . To see your description in action you can either navigate to your blog's home page and click on view source in your browser or enter your blog url in gogle search and you will see same description as you have edited on Meta field .

How to Add Meta Tags to a Blogger Blogspot Blog Individual Post :
Even if you search for specific post title in google , you will still see same meta content even for that post link , so its better to add Meta for every post , but that may create havoc as there should not be so much Meta content . Best idea is to add Meta only to the most important or you can say killer posts in which you get the must traffic .
Follow similar manner as for adding meta tags to the Home Page just
Add the following in the <head> section of your Blogger template. Enter this code below the Home Page code above you have just entered:
<b:if cond='data:blog.url == "http://url of your post"'>
<meta content='keywords pertaining to your post' name='keywords'/>
<meta content='crafted description of your post' name='description'/>
</b:if>

Here is an example of optimized meta tags for this post:

  <b:if cond='data:blog.url == "http://qwertyweb.blogspot.com/2009/10/what-exactly-is-do-follow.html"'>
 <meta content='' name='keywords'/>
 <meta content='' name='description'/>
    </b:if>

Note:
Search engines no longer place too much emphasis on keywords but on title posts some still do so it is worth adding keywords. Avoid using the same or similar keyword as search engine may stop indexing site if considered as spam .The maximum number of keywords recommended is around 20 that matched blog content perfectly .
Ensure Maximum characters for Title Tag -  60 ,  Site Description -  150 , Keywords -  200

Optimise page title for search engines

       Its better to Optimize page title as title plays a vital role for high search engine rankings . By default there are only few limited boring templates for blogspot users and your Blogger Blogspot blog does not have search engine optimised title tags. So if you are using same template then , this can put your blog to lower rankings even if you have rich content compared to other blogs that have inbuilt SEO blogging platforms like Wordpress , Joomla etc as these are likely to be placed more highly in search engine results.
                  The title tags of your blog are ordered by blog name first followed by the title of the post. Search engines like Google and Yahoo gives more importance to the first words of a title blog post . Heres how to tweak blogger template to optimize blog posts titles in search engines :

Go to Blogger >> Layout >> Edit HTML
Put a tick on Expand Widget Templates check box and search for the following code
    <title><data:blog.title/></title>

Replace this code with the following code
    <b:if cond='data:blog.pageType == "item"'>
    <title><data:blog.pageName/> |<data:blog.title/></title>
    <b:else/>
    <title><data:blog.pageTitle/></title> </b:if>
         Save your template.Thus through a simple tweak to your template , this will rectify this problem by simply reversing the position of the blog name and page title significant and good rankings can be gained in search engine results.
        If all your site pages are indexed by Google then if you google any specific blog post then this will be the manner of the result. Navigate to an individual post. You will see that your page title is now first followed by your blog title. A pipe symbol separates the two .
Note the order of the tags:
Blog Name | Post Name

Embed comment box below blogger post

          Wordpress has great feature that allows everyone to see commments right below post , but blogspot users doent have these feature . To make it work, you will need to make some changes in template code manually. The process is simple as follows , and takes no time to embed comment box to make blog look more featureful
Here's how :

Enter Blogger in Draft (Not Normal blogger).
Go to “Settings” tab and then to the “Comments”.
There you will find a new section “location of the feedback form” with options
Save the settings and go to the tab “Design” and then to the “Edit HTML” checking Expand HTML.

Now look for the following code :

<a expr: href=’data: post.addCommentUrl’ expr: onclick=’data: post.addCommentOnclick’><data: postCommentMsg/></a>

And replace it with :

 <b: if cond=’data: post.embedCommentForm’><br />

<b: include data=’post’ name=’comment-form’/><br /><b: else/><br /><b: if cond=’data: post.allowComments’><br /><a expr: href=’data: post.addCommentUrl’ expr: onclick=’data: post.addCommentOnclick’><data: postCommentMsg/></a><br /></b: if><br /></b: if>

Save the changes and you are done!
This may not necessary work for most of the users , so always backup your template before you try to tweak it ! It worked on mine , and i hope it will surely work on your template :D
Example : You can see comment box below this post :P

Show posts and comments stats in Blogger

                            One of the best widget is to show total number of blog posts and number of reader comments on your blog . For showing the number of posts and comments if the number is too huge and on top if your blog is DO-FOLLOW , its very useful . By blog statistics, this statistics widget displays the total number of posts and the total number of comments made on your blog as a widget that can displayed anywhere in blog and is live real time , thats  if anyone comments or blog admin posts , then the stats update at once and therefore one of the best blogger hack !
This widget works using javascript ( the json feeds) which calculates the number of comments and posts from your blogs feed , the Atom one and not RSS one

This is only for Blogger
not wordpress or joomla or livejournal as there are many  plug-ins available for that !
This code is very light weighted and efficient and does not take any time to load blog slower .
Adding HTML coding requires just a minute to add in Blogger

To add this widget go to
  • Layout
  • Add a Gadget
  • HTML/JAVASCRIPT
and
add da code shown below

<script src="http://www.qwertyweb.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default?orderby=published&alt=json-in-script&callback=rp"></script>

<script style="text/javascript">
function numberOfPosts(json) {
document.write('Total number of Posts: <b>' + json.feed.openSearch$totalResults.$t + '</b><br>');
}
</script>
<script src="http://www.qwertyweb.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default?alt=json-in-script&callback=numberOfPosts"></script>
<script src="http://www.qwertyweb.blogspot.com/feeds/comments/default?orderby=published&alt=json-in-script&callback=rp"></script>

<script style="text/javascript">
function numberOfComments(json) {
document.write('Total number of Comments: <b>' + json.feed.openSearch$totalResults.$t + '</b><br>');
}
</script>
<script src="http://www.qwertyweb.blogspot.com/feeds/comments/default?alt=json-in-script&callback=numberOfComments"></script>

Just replace qwertyweb by your blog name

Add Gravatar to Blogger

        Gravatar is  A Globally Recognized Avatar
Your Gravatar is an image that follows you from site to site appearing beside your name when you do things like comment or post on a blog. Avatars help identify your posts on blogs and web forums .
Gravatar.com is an awesome neat website that allows you to host an avatar and use it all over the web. Most blogging applications have support for Gravatar.

If you select any good looking or some attension seeking avatar than you will certainly gain good hits on your site from referrals on which you have commented .
Gravatar.com is an awesome neat website that allows you to host an avatar and use it all over the web.
Most blogging applications have support for Gravatar.
Blogger doesnt have !
Its easy to add  Gravatar onto Blogger.
Simply go to gravatar.com and sign up, then upload your avatar and assign it to your email address . Once that is done you will need the link to your gravatar, that isn't easily accessible from the gravatar website, but you can work it out. The URL starts like this:
http://www.gravatar.com/avatar.php?gravatar_id=
On the end of the url you need to put a MD5 hash on the end of it. Visit miracle salad to create your MD5 hash. On the miracle salad page simply enter the email you used to sign-up to Gravatar in the "string" text box and click "md5". Copy the string it provides you and paste it onto the end of the url above, it should then look something like this ae1d6c6e784513999c51a27c5c89a39a

Than add this after http://www.gravatar.com/avatar.php?gravatar_id=

therefore , this is obtained
http://www.gravatar.com/avatar.php?gravatar_id=ae1d6c6e784513999c51a27c5c89a39a
Thats mine Gravatar ! Use it to embed in blogger profile or if you register any site an if you want to upload pic , then just pick up this url and upload it directly from web instead of uploading from pc and using hell lot of bandwidth !

You can now use that URL to post your gravatar anywhere like add it to your blogger profile and similarly when you comment on wordpress blogs your avatar will be similar !
On any blog possessing gravatar plugin your avatar will be same , just you have to insert correct details of your email id and name and website but its not possible to show avatars of gravatar on blogger by directly commenting , for this you need to comment as a blogger profile and have to be logged in !
In short in wordpress if you are commenting with regisered gravatar , in any wp blog , you comment avatar will be same , but in blogger if you want your avatar to display , there is no choice but to sign in with blogger profile , but the site your avatar will  how after you coment will not be your website/blog but will be your blogger profile url , thus even by commenting , backlinks will not be avalable , but yeah , if you choose
name/url field when commenting in blogger , than you will get back-link but avatar will not appear !

But in gravatar site , heres the note

We are in the process of discussing with Blogger the possibility of adding a gravatar template tag to their arsenal.
Until then, however, there are a few third-party commenting systems you can use instead of Blogger's built in commenting system.
blogkomm supports gravatars and can be installed on your server and included in your Blogger templates.
HaloScan supports gravatars and is a hosted solution that you can use on any page (including Blogger posts).

Both these sites are worse ! coz in one we have to pay , and for other it just opens slow and there is just no sense in checking options , its all blown up , filthy website with ugly info
But still it might be better if gravatar comment forms will be available in blogger too ! thats why the main reason people go for wordpress than blogger , there are many reasons as well !
Better to go for gravatar , if not for blogger than for wordpress :D

Heres the tutorial

What exactly is Do Follow

          When the internet 1st started and became public  , weblogs were born and started  growing . When Blogger like services became available and comment option was added , huge spams were produced and reproduced that used to abuse blog , and blog became spam bin of comments which was filled with huge affiliate and filthy , dirty and fake links trying to promote all kinds of junks , gambling and hardcore rated sites.
To combat this, Google implemented the "no follow" tag.

This tag was picked up by wordpress and implemented for URLs in comments as standard in their scripts. What it means is that URLs in the comments field are ignored by google, and pagerank and indexing are not improved for the target sites, from these links. The expectation was that this would dissuade spammers from commenting on blogs.
A similar plugin for wordpress ,  the Askimet SPAM plugin.
Than the commenting decreases slowly and slowly [only of people who used to spam ]
There is now a "movement" (for want of a better word!) to remove the "no follow" tag from the comments to encourage others to leave comments on your blog.
In wordpress, the "no follow" tag can be be turned off by the installation of a "no follow" plugin.
If you’ve been doing any kind of reading or you have seen in field below or near  the box where you are commenting mentioned " You comment , I  follow "  or "Do Follow Blog " , then your blog is then again found in that blog you are commenting resulting in linkjuice aka link building again finally landing up more visitors through that blog and getting indexed by google search engine .

The most popular Blogs always mention “nofollow” and “dofollow” links.
These are very important terms to understand when you are trying to build great links back to your site in order to increase your Page rank and search engine rankings , thus increasing more visitors on blog.

But some popular blogs used still  use no follow tag
There are many reasons you would want to use the “nofollow” tag, such as:
1) Paid Links: This is recommended by Google. Many Publishers can earn mostly by displaying links or Square ads of other advertisers having nice traffic thereby getting fixed revenue and not depending on google adsense , which is very random .
2) Maintain Clean Blog : When linking to social bookmarking sites like digg ,reddit ,stumbleupon you are indirectly linking to google.com, yahoo.com, bing.com, all search engines as they are highly popular with amazing PR , Most of these social bookmarking sites are Do-Follow !
But still

By advertising your blog as a "DO follow" blog,  you are encouraging others to comment.

All Wordpress /Blogger blogs are defaultly set as No Follow , but there is an easy way to make it Do Follow and make huge daily visitors so as to help them interact as well as comment more and share link juice socially

To remove nofollow attribute just follow the simple steps mentioned  :

1) For Blogger Users
  • Login to your blogspot dashboard
    Click on Layout then go to  Edit HTML
    Checkmark Expand widget templates
    Find this code
  • <a expr:href='data:comment.authorUrl' rel='nofollow'><data:comment.author/></a>
  • From the code remove “ rel=’nofollow’ “
    new code will look like this
  • <a expr:href='data:comment.authorUrl' ><data:comment.author/></a>
  • Click on save and refresh your blog.
  • You blog is now not containing no follow attribute.
2) For Wordpress Users
  • Download dofollow.php
  • Upload and save it in the wp-content/plugins directory of your WordPress installation.
